Examine some sites with respect to usability
Lab task
- Team up in groups of two or three - discuss
- Spend some time investigating the following three sites.
Deconstruct the planning that created the site
- Describe the purpose and overall goals of the site.
- Write the apparent needs analysis
- Identify the probable general characteristics of the target population of users. (age, education, experience with computers, other identifiable characteristics.)
- Identify the probable user's goals - what do they want to accomplish?
- Summarize the key tasks that users will likely carry out on the site.
Analyze the sites with respect to the usability factors, keeping in mind your analysis.
- Learnability
- Efficiency
- Memorability
- Errors
- Satisfaction

Homework Assignment 1 (Part 2) - Prepare a report on the lab (10 pts.)
- You should write an individual report, but communicate with your partners in the process
- Use a proper report format with headings, subheadings, paragraphs, and complete sentence.
- Summarize your analysis and observations about both the planning and usability of the site
- Include your assumptions about audience and purpose
- If you refer to specific pages, include the URL
